Modern-day cruise ships are required to carry enough lifeboats for everybody on each side so that if the ship was listing heavily to one side, pasengers could still disembark. Many inflatables are available as well. Some of the boats are completely enclosed and are fully motorized. You could probably get a hot cup of coffee on the new 'lifeboats' -for two bucks-
