: Mike,
: I can understand and agree for the mostpart with your point of view. You are a gentleman and are open to a divergent point of view. I like that...it shows class.
: I still belive that Minicraft could have done more. Some of us are, I am sure, not as good as others at scratch building but I can understand the challenge that you look for in a model and respect your opinions. I just hope there is more there than we can see in Seans pics.
Well if Mr. Trendle is reading this thread perhaps he can explain what was decided on, why, and why some things (that perhaps should have been done) weren't. As a result of the Academy/Minicraft's shortcomings four of us have grouped together to create a step-by-step tutorial to fill this gap. Now the new Academy 1:400 and Minicraft 1:350 do address several changes but as you correctly point out, there are many more. The group of four have taken a serious approach of showing what needs to be done, and how to do it, so everyone will be able to improve their model making skills. Many of the add ons and scratchbuilding material is taken from kit parts, or spare GMM material. We'll show you what to do and how to do it always keeping costs in mind. IOWs thanks to the zillions of great tips and tricks offered here by the "regulars" and drop-in guests, the homework is done and compiled categorically. Anyone with the Academy/Minicraft model should be able to duplicate what is seen in the tutorial. Everything
mentioned has been implemented, tried and test on one of the four models being built by each author. Between this upcoming guide, the great group of people here, and the excellent support products and models themselves will ensure sastisfactory results for anyone. Personally, in the end I think each modeler going this extra distance will enjoy their model that much more knowing that they did many of the finess items themselves. It is a group effort for a great group of people. this site and everyone associated is the hallmark by which others should be measured by. It is a class act. I hear you Jerry. I hope Al Trendle is listening and cares to participate on this for you, but rest assured, where the models leave off Sean's site WILL pick up the shortfalls. Anyway, back to work, we are almost finished.
