Just finished reviewing Loren's list of proposed replacement parts and IMHO it's very comprehensive. Like Mark, I'm a bit apprehensive about the raised window frames, but if this is the only way to do it, it would still be a marked improvement over the kit parts. His suggestion to etch the outline of the window frames would be preferable to me as well, if the bulkheads have to be made in a single piece. Painting these would be a bit easier (to me) than a raised frame.
I read Loren's response to Mark's constructive criticism in which he states that the 2 part method is feasible, and would hope that if these
parts become a reality this is how they would be done. The results, with patience and perseverance, would be amazing.
Also, I like the idea of adding the locater holes for the handrails. A company named Detail Associates has a line of fine brass wire for model railroaders, the smallest being .006, .008, & .010. in 12" lengths. I plan on using this wire for the handrails, though I haven't determined which one is appropriate (will cross that bridge when I get to it). The only source I know of is Walther's. Finer hobby shops may have it as well.
Thank's to Mark for helping to spread the word
and to Loren for taking the time to look into what it would take to accomplish this. Maybe I should hold my breath after all.
All the Best, Dave
