Regarding the etched bulkheads:

: I don't wish to throw a monkey wrench into things, but I want to get some things off my chest. You are the expert here, so tell me if my reservations are unwarranted.
: I don't know if I like the idea of raised window frames. Most were flush with the walls. The officer's deckhouse would be an exception. For them, having separate parts would allow us to pose the officer's deckhouse windows open.
: Is dave's original idea (flanged window frames inserted into openings in the walls from behind) not practical? Without separate frames, painting the frames would be as difficult as it is now.

Actually, now that you mention it, this IS possible. Probably a better idea, too.

That might allow for the use of thinner stock, too.

Yes, it will.

: Also, why do you have to do everything on the same sheet?

Using the above technique, now everything CAN be placed on the same sheet and at scale thicknesses, too.

: If the set is going to be a compromise, I don't think I'll be interested. I realize that you can't please everybody, so please don't take offense. I'm NOT trying to be arrogant. I just want to give you an honest input.

Honesty is definitely welcome here! No offense taken.

: P.S. Are you willing to work with us, or do you plan to do this on your own? I'm sure that many including Bruce, Bob, and Mike Pell would like to have some input into the design (me too).

I'll need help from anyone able to offer it. This won't be a one-man show. I accepted help on the davits and several changes and improvements were the result from input from members of this site. Now the davits are better than ever.
