I have found that no tape is better than 3M, but it has problems too. What you may want to do is, after applying the tape, slide a pencil over where the tape and the hull meet, press firmly but slide gently, it should turn out in good results, it always worked for me, let me know if you have anymore problem, I'd like to here how it turns out, not many Britannic modles out there, not many want to do the heavy conversion.
