Just a note for anyone trying "the ultimate Titanic model."
I recently received all the available Titanic sets from Loren Perry at Gold Medal Models. I am *extremely* pleased with the quality of these accessories.
I especially like comparing the lttle 1/350 benches side-by-side with the kit "benches" (well, whatever those slabs are...). It even impressed my wife!
I think to preserve the wonderful delicate nature of the legs, arms, slats (and for that matter the deck chairs) it would be wise to *not paint them.* Rather, use a chemical blackening agent like Micro-Mark's BlackenIt, then dry-brush a hint of color for the bench slats, chair legs and wicker. I knew I'd find a use for that 10/0 brush eventually.
Again, very nice stuff, Loren!
Likewise, I purchased allthe decals offered by Duane Fowler and Bruce Beveridge. Againg, I'm very pleased with the quality of the decals and the level of detail they will add to the kits. And the price! As I am very fond of saying (especially when talking about my LightSheet products!) cost is relative. Does the cost versus value measure up? Did the product save gobs of time, or provide something you can't get anywhere else?
I consider the decals sets a valuable bargain. Anyone could spend a week or two (or three) doing the research, generating the artwork, doing all the busy-work. (Time is money. To most people.) *Or*, spend less than the cost of a meal at McDonald's and move on! Of course, the same is true for the Gold Medal sets, only I think we're talking a sit-down meal at a fine restaraunt...
damn, I've got to stop watching the TV Food Network!
