Contest Controversy

Who really won the contest? On Message Board 6 Tim Laurence made the post which I will copy below claiming that his was the correct answer and within the contest deadline. He states that Ryan Journey posted the correct answer after the contest deadline. What gives?

Here is Tim Laurence's post:

"Not only have you told it like it is... or was, the greater satisfaction
will come with the announcement of today's Winner! You'll note that at
the 11th hour...actually the 13th, a gentleman from Oregon posted a
correct answer as well. However, I've got a question, I wouldn't mind
your advice upon...The man who won...his answer carries a post date of
November 28...three days AFTER the close of the contest. All
embarrassing lack of humility aside...my answer was made BEFORE the
contest ended. I'm wondering...why would someone win the contest AFTER
it was closed and AFTER I had posted the right answer on this Board on
the 25th??? Doesn't this strike you as Odd? And while you seemed to
think the original message immodest, can I at least defend myself by
saying that what I meant (and can see why you would be offended) was
that the incredible details that are talked about on this site led me to
think EVERYBODY would know the answer. There are discussion on this site
that make me feel like an absolute moron. I have never read such
incredible knowledge of the details of the Titanic. I built the original
ENTEX model in 1976 - one of the first models out, and now I have gone
back to look at it. The original ENTEX molds must have been revised when
Minicraft or Revelle bought them. The model I have is woefully
inaccurate in many other areas. benches are missing, or out of place.
The position of the foreward anchor is wrong, the bridge wings are out
of scale. Anyway, I am sorry you took offense, and re-reading my
message, it does sound like some know-it-all. So I hope you'll accept my
apology. It was not intended to come off the way it reads. I really did
think with the knowledge most people on this site have, that Flannel was
an easy answer. I think Sean thought so as well. As I said, as of 3 days
BEFORE the end of the contest, Sean sent me an e-mail saying I was the
only person that had sent in a correct answer. However we're still
miffed about the gentleman who one. To us it looks like he entered his
answer after the contest was over and after I had posted my
"know-it-all" message with the right answer. So what's up? Am I
misunderstanding?? Cheers Tim Laurence. :-[ "
