Mike, I used a flat dark brown for the platform. I don't know what exactly the platform was made out of, and deciding to use the brown was a judgment call. In footage taken of the ship, you can still see the remains of the leadsman platform on the starboard side. So, likely at least part of it was made of metal. Perhaps metal based, then encased in wood.
