Thomas Andrews, tour guide...?

While I know of no evidence proving or disproving such a thing happened, I'd think it unlikely that the busiest man on the ship was playing tour guide. There is mention in a few of the male first class passenger's accounts of tours taken of the engine rooms and other parts of the ship, but I don't recall any mention of who guided them and whether these tours were taken in port or at sea. In all likelyhood these tours were conducted privately by an assistant purser or a junior officer off watch. There is one thing you can bet your boots on, though. In 1912 no one would have even suggested taking two women into the machinery spaces of a steamship, the group's supposed "next stop"!
