After looking over Fine Arts Models photos of their
Titanic, I agree that the deck camber is grossly
exaggerated. Their ad states the model is over
four feet long, which probably makes it around
1/200 or 1/192 scale. If 1/200 scale, the deck
camber of three inches on the prototype translates
to .015" on the model, or barely visible to the
unaided eye. For all practical purposes, in this
scale the decks could very well be modeled flat
and the model would not suffer for it.
Prototype deck camber data is taken from page 22,
Olympic & Titanic - Ocean Liner of the Past, 1988
reprint.
I also noted the slightly exaggerated rake of
the stem, another minor error. I haven't been able
to locate any other photos of the FAM Titanic (just
the three on their web page) so I don't know about
an other errors.
And yes, their sales pitch does contain some
hyperbole as does most advertising.
