Doug,
I don't know if this is of any help, but I recall a figure of an average height
of 175 feet from the keel to the top of the funnels. The designer's note book gives
the following heights above the wing firebars for no. 1 throuhg no. 3 respectively:
149'-5", 150'-3 1/2" and 150'-4". No such dimension would be available for no. 4
because, obviously, it wasn't above ANY firebars. At any rate, there's no way to
tell what these dimensions refer to anyway, since you'd first have to find out how
high above the keel the firebars were located, and if they were all at the same height
above the keel.
If you really need dimensions for the height of these funnels, I suggest you get
a copy of the rigging plan. Each funnel is of a different height due to the sheer of
vessel, the rise at either end. I believe that the top of each funnel is also slightly
higher than the last going fore to aft relative to the keel or to the load waterline.
Here's one more interesting piece of info regarding the funnels. While the outside
dimensions cross-sectionally are 24'-6" long by 19'-0" wide, the size of the flue, or
inner pipe varies. The size of the internal flue, no. 1 through no. 3 is as follows:
19'-0" x 14'-6", 20'-0" x 15'-3" and 17'-3" x 13'-3", respectively. The no. 4 funnel
has no interior flue.
Regards,
Scott
