I did get the first edition of the Night Lives On. The apparatus shrouded in white canvas (sounding motor)was seen in T @ Two however. In The Night Lives On I noticed a deck locker and some other little dark colored box in the McElroy/Smith picture.
Thanks for that reference. This little book is great. This is the only place I have ever seen this fourth funnel picture and it supports my theory of those cpwls being motorized.
