: While researching the cowl vents outboard of the air trunk duct fore of the #2 funnel, specifically the starboard side 30" dia. cowl ( Marschall was correct on this one), I came across the picture of the Olympic in T at Two. P. 61 is a picture of the starboard boat deck looking aft from the bridge wing. What to my wondering eyes did appear but THAT DAMN SOUNDING MOTOR ( I think). There is a strange device covered in canvass sitting between the cutter and the #3 lifeboat on the deck. It's not a part of collapsible life boat. It's right where that spare is. It has to be the sounding motor.
: Another find is seen in the "Night Lives On" first edition. In the less cropped picture of Smith and McElroy you can see a small square box and what appears to be a deck locker next to the aft bridge wing bulwark.
I'll have to head down to the Library Bruce to get out the T@2 book. Thanks for the references for the items. Though the Lord book edition may not be as an easy find. Cheers, Mike
