Bob,

Excellent ideas.

I've been resin casting for a while and specifically use the Smooth-On line of RTV's and resins.

The Smooth-Cast 300 is a fast setting, two part, white resin and is great for a number of applications other than casting. It's the only resin I use.

The RTV is a bit tricky to work with since it has to be mixed by weight rather than 50/50.

There's a Micro Marc add in Fine Scale for an RTV that mixes with a 50/50 ratio, I haven't tried it, but it seems it would be easier to use.

A cheap but important piece of the puzzle is a pressure pot. I made one from a pressure cooker and misc. plumbing parts. This breaks up tiny air bubbles in the mold.

The best thing to do is to get some resin and RTV and start experimenitng with the stuff. Also, get some basic liturature on casting.

I'll send you some info that should help get you on your way.

Chuck
