I am finding that McCluskie's 'Anatomy' and Marriott's 'Titanic' are full of factual and typographical errors. Without the dimensions in front of me, I believe that the 19x24 is actually the X and Y dimensions of the funnel base. The smokestacks were elliptical. The 19 would represent the width from side to side, the 24 being the length from front to back. I don't have my books with me, Doug, but the funnels were somewhere in the range of 62 to 70 feet tall, or a little longer than 2 Titanic lifeboats stacked end to end.
Better answers later on my part,
Dan
