: Dear all,

: What colour are people using for the expansion joints?

: I know it was a brass or a bronze colour (not gold) I'm just curious as to what people are using.

Hello David, for the expansion joints I followed along the line of Archibald Gracie's description in his book. For the boat deck I used a very thin (both in width and thickness) strip of masking tape like a pinstripe idea. I placed a small strip on the modeling table and then using a ruler as a straight edge, cut out a thin strip with a hobby knife. When I had the right lengths completed for both expansion joints I painted them with Testor's 1166 Mat. Military Brown. When dry it was just a matter of transferring them over to the boat deck and laying them flat on the deck and pressing them down as flat as they would go. Looks okay and beats trying to hand paint them on the deck surfaces themselves. Cheers, Mike
