In Marriott's book is a painting of Capt. Smith standing on the port side of the bridge based on a well known photograph. Behind him there is a handle on the wall. Was there one of these handles in the same position on the starboard side?
Also in the same painting is a cable and clip that is attached to the bridge doorway opening and disappears toward the bow out of the picture. Does someone know where this cable terminates towards the bridge bulwark? Was the same cable also found on the starboard side and what purpose does it serve?
