: : Ive applied decals to my 1/350 Titanic. Now how do I keep them from coming off to the touch. Someone told me to apply glosscote first and then apply the decals, but wouldnt this get sloppy? My paint is flat by the way.
: Decals do not adhere well to matte (flat) paints due to the roughness of the surface. They tend to turn silver of peel off due to the air that gets trapped underneath. I recommend that you first coat the area with a light gloss coat, apply the decal, and then overspray the whole thing with matte finnish. I agree with Bruce that you should use a decal setting solution. It will help the decals stick to the surfave and hide the edge line.

It's probable that you have lost all of the original adhesive too. If you did alot of moving around of the decals as you were applying them or left the decal in the water for too long (so it floated off), this can happen. After your gloss coat is dry, mix up a drop of white glue and water (just enough so it's "milky"), then brush it where the decal will go. Place the decal back on over it, and pat it dry. The milkyness will disappear when it dries. Any residue can be cleaned off with a damp cloth. Then go ahead with the flat coat.
