Decals do not adhere well to matte (flat) paints due to the roughness of the surface. They tend to turn silver of peel off due to the air that gets trapped underneath. I recommend that you first coat the area with a light gloss coat, apply the decal, and then overspray the whole thing with matte finnish. I agree with Bruce that you should use a decal setting solution. It will help the decals stick to the surfave and hide the edge line.
