I am also a "lunatic" and am attempting the same as you! Light Sheet is good, but after checking it out, can be VERY expensive, depending on what you want to do. The biggest problem seems to be the connectors that you must leave at the ends of a particular piece. They can do custom pieces, but you need their modules in order to light the pieces.
I have opted for lots of fibre optic cable. I will do some experimenting with small clear rods, and attach fibres to them on the promenade ceilings.
The only source for fibre optics I can locate is Flexi-Light in England. The address is www.flxlight.demon.co.uk. They have a good selection of cables and accessories. They only accept AMEX at this time.
