I am in the process of building a Titanic model from scratch.
The materials I am useing is 1/4 inch foam board for the structure
and ultra thin poster board for the outer skin. I was forced to
draw and hand cut each piece for the frame work so I could approximate
the various contours of the hull, then cover the frame work with small
hand shaped pieces of the posterboard, much how the real ship would have been
constructed. I then filled in the seams and painted the hull. It has taken
me a week to get that far, and I am now working on the upper decks. Has anyone
else taken this approach, and would anyone have any
suggestions on how to make the small details easier
to make from scratch? I was planning on taking pictures as I went,
but I got too into the project, so I will wait until completed...
